MDS Czech Republic - ENG

It’s been almost a year since my last chat with Marcin. Mastro Defence System has been constantly growing since then. New clubs keep opening in Poland and other countries. At the end of 2019, the exciting information spreads around the world – MDS enters Czech Republic.

I kindly invite you to my conversation with Marcin Michalik-Lipka who needs no introduction to the Discomfort Zone readers.

Jakub Roczniak: Hey Marcin, long time no see. Please tell me, in how many countries is MDS already operating?

Marcin Michalik-Lipka: Hey, I’m happy that you remember about us. I’ll kindly answer your questions. Belgium is our headquarters. We operate in France, Poland, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, but also in Tunisia or South Korea. Apart from those, as you already know, we enter another great marker – Czech Republic. We operate dynamically on the American and Canadian markets. We plan to introduce MDS in Australia in 2021.

J.R.: So the news about the dynamic growth of the MDS are not accidental?

M.M.-L.: There are no accidents here. Fred Mastro and our team of MDS International experts work very hard on the development of the program, the safety procedures, as well as popularization of MDS (of course among the groups). This responsibility is especially crucial in the countries threatened by the terror attacks. Our part of Europe, leaded by Poland, is an interesting region when it comes to development. We’re tough and motivated in order to ensure our own safety.

J.R.: How do you communicate at the international adepts meetings ? Do you speak Czech?

M.M.-L.: No, I don’t speak Czech. I teach in English. We also communicate in that language at the meetings.

J.R.: Do you have help in Czech Republic in expanding the organization?

M.M.-L.: Yes, I have an honour to have an adept, who’s a honorary Czech Republic Consul. His name is Arkadiusz Ignasiak. It’s a very important person to my, who gives me support.

J.R.: There’s probably someone, who’ll constantly conduct trainings in Czech Republic, am I right?

M.M.-L.: Yes, the main instructor will be Martin Kansky.

J.R.: Can you please tell us more about him?

M.M.-L.: Martin completed “Level 1” course, the first exam we require to be passed. Martin worked as a criminal detective in Czech police for many years. He has huge experience in both investigation and self-defence.

J.R.: Sounds intriguing! As the new country joined MDS, you probably think of developing MDS even more?

M.M.-L.: Of course, but the popularization of something new is no easy task. The first classes I plan to conduct, will officially open out new MDS branch. Next we build the instructor staff (right after the next Warsaw course in march). Our first goal will be organizing the international class that is going to be conducted by Fred Mastro.

J.R.: I hear and observe a lot. It makes me curiouse, what’s the main notion of MDS? Is the successful self-defence or propagating the rules and values of the fighting psychology?

M.M.-L.: Safety and everything about it is our priority. Crisis situations are analyzed in terms of psychology and physical actions. When it comes to the dangers, that the modern world must face (for example the random terror attacks), conflict management is not always possible. The focus is to survive and protect others. Classic solutions, also the sport ones, are not the right choice. We seek the solution for the regular citizen. MDS is developing all the time. MDS will be introduced as a subject at the School of Phisical Education in Biała Podlaska, at the martial arts faculty. It’s a huge success for us.

J.R.: Let’s come back to Czech branch topic. Are the trainings there will differ from the ones you conduct in Poland?

M.M.-L.: The high standards that we create in MDS are followed in every country we enter. Of course, the most frequently occuring dangers differ in every country. We include this and the cultural differences as well. Instructors are selected carefully (they must complete the education that takes few years), that helps to keep the high standards. MDS Poland wants to be a world leader, therefore I must make sure that MDS Czech Republic asserts itself.

I’m happy that the three years of hard work and the first edition of the instructor course, made others claim, that the courses are really tough. The strong international team of the Warsaw course proves this. Apart from the Polish adepts, we will train people from: Slovakia, Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Norway, Latvia and the Great Britain.

We fully deserve the opinion, that we are highly motivated and sociable. I will pass those standard to our team members in Czech Republic.

J.R.: Marcin, thank you for the conversation.

M.M.-L.: Thank you too.
